Android 10.0 Firmware Update List for all Android Devices [Updated 2020]

Android 10 is finally officially available, but of course not all Android phones will get it right now. Or even those phones that they probably won’t receive at all. While the Google Treble project has helped launch updates for smartphones manufacturers, there will be some time for other Android phones other than Pixel devices to get Android Q. Through our article today, you’ll know when or not your phone will have Android 10, or at least whether or not he will get it.

The latest update to the list of Android devices to be updated to Android 10 Q on January 12, 2020 .
Android 10

And without looking at how many huge improvements to the Android system update process, there is only 10.4% of all Android devices that have already received Android 9.0 since its launch. It also seems that Android 10 will be another update that few users will have this year. Well, if they’re just lucky to get it!

With Android 8.0, Google announced the Project Treble feature for the first time, in order to allow phone manufacturers to launch new system updates without having to modify the custom interfaces to suit these versions first, which resulted in a noticeable speed in launching the new system versions. Now, Google is also developing similar technology, but this time to quickly send security updates and is known as Project Mainline, which issues the usual security patches through the Google Play Store.

The thing is, all users now want Android 10 . With its revolutionary features such as the wide-range night mode, as well as its full support for fold-able Android devices, the experience of improved gestures compared to the previous system, and also some great improvements and additions in terms of protection and safety, I think these are not things that you would missed.

Android Q update With new revolutionary properties!

In 2018, the Android Pie came with a default support for (Notch) at the top of the screen, which was present in almost all Android smartphones since the beginning of 2018, whether leading or even intermediate versions of them even if the system did not support them by default, but as you may have noticed Today, the notch is slowly fading from the 2020 phone designs. Whether Android 10 Q supports the notch by default or not, it has previously made things easier for developers and manufacturers of these devices by supporting new design booms that appear from time to time.

Therefore, Android Q comes with support for the default Android devices folding, so what we’ve seen recently of new devices such as Galaxy Fold phone from Samsung or even Huawei ‘s Mate X . The reason is that Google wants to be in control of how the system handles the presence of notch, or even foldable screens, and things that companies intend to add to smartphones in the future. Think about it for a moment, if you are the owner of a company that manufactures phones, it makes sense to build a design that is supported by the operating system in the first place and that is easier and better than that you support it inside the system alone.

Android 10 Q with better privileges

Over the past few years, some companies such as Google, Facebook, Amazon, as well as Microsoft have been facing many problems related to privacy and security. But it seems that Google has already learned from past mistakes and has followed Apple’s steps to correct the location permissions. On Android devices, when you allow an app to access your location, in the past it could monitor your movements at all times. Android 9, however, was showing the GPS icon at the top when using any of these applications, so Google added another important thing.

One of the first and most important features in Android Q is the feature of protecting privacy greatly, for example through Android 10 the user can have great control over opening and closing the geographical location while browsing applications, and privacy is more than just sharing the site with applications, and also this version prevents from sharing The images and internal files of the device and the various information for any permissions of any application, that is, you can run applications on your phone without the need to access information about your device such as photos, camera and internal files.

With the Android 10 system, you can fully control the GPS capabilities

With Android 9 Pie, you could either watch the app use GPS capabilities, or prevent it from being used permanently. But if you prevent it, it will not work when you need it, because an application like Google Maps, for example, needs access to the site. In iOS, in fact you have a choice between blocking or allowing the app to access the permissions of your current site when not in use. This particular feature of course focuses on privacy security, and has already found its way with the Android 10 Q update.

Other features with Android 10

  • Now you will not face the problem of commenting and slow opening the sharing list for photos or videos, or even different types of files, because Android 10 Q will not reload this huge list of applications every time you press the Share button. Alternatively, developers of those applications can now determine which applications will be available to share from their applications.

Android Q New Sharing System

  • In the notification bar at the top, you can now see the battery life remaining hours and even days as soon as you drag the task list down as shown in the following image.

Android Q quick settings

  • In the Programmer’s Options menu, you can now change the main system colors or accent color as well as the lines between four colors which are purple, black, green, and blue.
  • The options to change and customize themes here are not strong and do not contain many options such as OnePlus devices, for example, but it is at least the beginning because it is the first time that we see default options for the theme inside the system.
  • The Power button menu now includes an emergency option.

Emergency button in the Power menu

  • Now for the first time on Android system by default at all, in Android 10 update you can connect the phone to Wi-Fi networks using QR code like Xiaomi phones.

Android 10.0 features

  • Settings panel

The new version of Android Q provides a very important feature which is the ability to show the basic system settings panel by opening applications, so now you can open the settings area with ease and for example you are playing or browsing the internet on Google Chrome browser without exiting the application itself, and Google made this available The property by having a floating button.

  • Connection

Android Q here has supported modern communications technology such as the fifth generation networks and the new version of Bluetooth 5 as well as new versions of Wi-Fi networks, to ensure that the user gets the fastest possible speed so that the user can provide a comfortable and fast communication experience.

  • Camera and media

Google says that Android Q greatly improves the use of the camera and photography through the Dynamic Depth feature, and this helps greatly to give great advantages in photography such as three-dimensional photography support AR photography.

  • Vulkan platform support

The Vulkan platform is a three-dimensional graphical library that is multi-platform and special for games and was produced by the Chronos group, and Google supports this platform through a feature found in Android Q called ANGEL. It allows applications and games that use OPENGL E5 to take advantage of the Vulkan platform tool.

  • improve the performance

The release of Android 10 allows a process to improve performance in the system mainly, by knowing the applications that consume the largest amount of space and the ability of the phone, and reduce the capabilities as little as possible so that the phone works efficiently, for example if you play an Android game that has a strong graphics and makes The phone works at its maximum efficiency, so it presses the phone, causing some disruption to its services, so Android Q here makes a reduction to the graphics rate in games very significantly so that the phone can continue to work.

Android 10 Firmware Update

It has become natural for us, as users of Android, to ask this question with every new version of Android, which is: Will my phone receive the new update or not ?! Naively, I noticed that there are many people who think they will get it automatically because they recently bought a new Android phone, but unfortunately OS updates is not that simple! The final decision here is for phone manufacturers to decide when your phone will receive the Android 10 Q update, even if they decide to launch the update for it!

Users of the flagship devices, in theory, should receive the new update, and the same situation also applies to some medium phones such as the Samsung Galaxy A series, for example. Stock Android One devices also need to receive the update, but in reality there are those times that the update doesn’t reach these versions.

Smartphone producers should soon confirm which smartphones will receive the Android 10 update. Of course, below you will find a list of all the phones that “most likely” will receive the update, but we will nonetheless follow up on company announcements about the update as well as confirmed dates, beta versions, etc.

In the next list, devices that are marked with a BOLD have already received the Android 10 update , or the manufacturer has made an official statement that the update will arrive for the phone at some point.

ASUS devices

In fact, Asus has been very bad at updating its smartphones to Android Pie. And while many of its users are still waiting for the Android 9.0 update so far, only ZenFone 5Z phone has received the official update, while there are 6 other phones that have been confirmed updated to Android 9.0 and yet they have not received it yet! At the moment, it seems that the Japanese company continues to support its flagships only since 3 of them has already received the Android 10 update.

Motorola devices

Since Lenovo acquired it, Motorola has become more similar to it regarding the official system updates. Unlike most other companies, Motorola can launch the update for any phone, at any time, without considering whether or not it is a flagship version. Android Pie update for Motorola phones, for example, was launched for most of the mid-range phones before the Moto Z3 got it. As for the Moto E family, it did not receive the previous Android version in the first place.

But despite the above, Motorola has previously updated some of its phones, and we expect to complete this support with the upcoming Android 10 OS, so you can find out these phones:

  • Moto One Power: started receiving the Android 10 beta according Android Police.

Essential devices

While users weren’t sure whether Essential could launch any other Android phones, the company that was created by the godfather of the Android itself, Andy Robin, was making an impressive effort to launch official system updates for the two-year-old Essential PH-1.

In fact, Essential PH-1 is the only smartphone (other than Pixel phones) that receives Android Q update hours after launching it for Google Pixel, and that includes even the usual monthly security patches. In other words, PH-1 got the Android 10, exactly two hours after it got Google Pixel 2 phones.

Google devices

Install Android 10 Q system
The first Android 10 Q beta system for Google Pixel phones

Other than that it runs on stock Android, the strongest reason for which you will purchase a phone from the Google Pixel Series releases is that you have thus guaranteed to receive system security updates for at least the next three years, and two years for major system versions. Of course, Pixel phones are the first to receive Android 10 Q update.

As we have seen in previous years, we expect Google to update all of its smartphones without exception (starting with original Pixel Series of course). Even the recently announced Pixel 4 & 4 XL has already got Android 10. Therefore, in the event that you own any version of either Pixel orPixel XL, you are thus guaranteed to have the next Android update, while not ensuring that you get the Android 11 version though in the event that you are a user of the Pixel 1 versions.

LG devices

Korean giant although it is supposed to compete with Samsung, but it is not interested in the updates as much as its competitor, and last year was not an exception. Currently, most LG phones have not yet received the Android Pie update without providing any information about their launch date or if they will even update them at all.

Although we talked last year about the new LG update center whose task was to fix this, the company is still unable to release security updates in a stable manner at the very least, and if you do the research you will find that all LG smartphones are three or four months late for the last Security update. But nevertheless, LG G8 ThinQ for example has already received the Android 10 update, so we can say that at least one phone from LG will get the next system update. As for the rest of the phones, unfortunately we do not know anything about them except some of the leaked dates for the new system to reach them!

  • LG G8 ThinQ: got official stable version
  • LG G7 ThinQ: the second quarter of 2020
  • LG G7 One: official Android 10 update
  • Phone LG V50 ThinQ: Android 10 system leaked to the Korean version
  • LG V40 ThinQ: the second quarter of 2020
  • LG V35 ThinQ: the second quarter of 2020
  • LG V30S ThinQ: the second quarter of 2020
  • LG Q60 phone: the fourth quarter of 2020
  • LG K50 phone: the fourth quarter of 2020

HTC devices

I guess it’s not the secret of the fact that things have never been okay recently with the Taiwanese giant with a long history, HTC, the first Android phone ever. The company at the moment rarely launches new phones, and users have almost forgotten about it, given that it has been around for quite some time now, and this of course is not a good thing for a technical product company in general.

Last year with Android 8.0 updates , HTC released the update for very few phones. As of June 2019, only one phone from the Taiwanese company had been updated to Android 9.0. Then in July, the company added three more phones to the “Android Pie update plan” and they were the U11, U11 Plus as well as the U12 Plus, and so far they haven’t been updated to the previous system!

Personally, I don’t expect any changes with the Android 10 update, but I nevertheless expect that the HTC U11 Life phone that came with Android One may receive the Android 10 update during 2020. And the latest flagship HTC 9+ may also get the update also at some point.

  • HTC U12 Plus Android One version:  received Android 10 update
  • HTC U11 Plus
  • HTC U11 Life Android One version:  received Android 10 update

Nokia devices

With most of its smartphones containing stock Android system being part of Android One initiative to support system updates from Google, Nokia has been one of the best companies ever to provide major and security system updates over the past three years. Last year, HMD promised that all Nokia phones would get Android 9.. As for the current year, the Finnish giant also promised that all of its smartphones will get Android 10 (unlike some of the few old phones like Nokia 2) at some point between the end of 2019 until the second half of 2020.

From this point of view, I can assure you of the following, that in case you want a cheap Android phone that has long-term support, Nokia is one of your best options at the moment.

OnePlus devices

Android 10 Firmware for OnePlus Devices

After a lot of mistakes and criticism on how the Chinese company dealt with the policy of updating its smartphones, OnePlus has already made some real changes in this regard. All OnePlus phones since OnePlus 3 until now are already running Android 9.0 Pie, although OnePlus 3 / 3T versions are still in beta yet.

In fact, OnePlus has implemented a new policy similar to Android One that has promised users two years of official system updates, and three years of monthly security updates for all of its phones so far. Thus, all OnePlus phones from OnePlus 5 to OnePlus 7 Pro should get the next Android 10 update.

Samsung devices

Android 10 Q update for Samsung phones

Some of the wonderful and flagship phones from the Korean giant that I personally still love so far such as Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 will be unsupported for the next update, unfortunately, even though it is still able to run the new system with full power, but it has become three years old Now. Oppo has officially confirmed that the Reno 2 will be the first to be updated to ColorOS 7.0 by December 2019.
