These Xiaomi Devices Are Now Unsupported for OS and Security Updates!

Xiaomi has a very large base of Android smartphones, starting from the “low” category, passing through the cheap mid-range, and the upper middle category, and ending with the expensive flagships. Also, the Chinese company is advertising these phones under multiple brands which are Mi which is currently Xiaomi and also Redmi & Redmi Note in addition to POCO. But since the Poco brand is now a separate company, on this page we will focus on Mi & Xiaomi devices, as well as Redmi which has currently stopped receiving any new official updates (and even security patches as well) in case you are trying to make your decision to buy a new phone now!

Xiaomi phones will not receive official updates

The usual from Xiaomi that it releases a new phone almost every month, so it has a very huge amount of smartphones among users now! But even so, the company always finds a way to support most of these phones “not all” in terms of support and official updates quite impressive if you ask me.

And if you don’t know, Xiaomi is currently committed to supporting most of its smartphones with two years of system updates, including 2 major Android versions. Of course, this depends on the current category of this phone because we’ve seen phones from Xiaomi get only one OS update before.

In fact, Xiaomi’s policy regarding this is not clear, it may support low-end phones for two years with only one update for the Android OS and the rest of the period is security patches, while mid-range and higher-end devices are also supported for two years, but with two versions of the Android OS not just one. The same rule also applies to flagships, which get two versions of Android but with three years of security patches.

Is my phone still supportive of the new Android updates?

So, are you currently wondering if your phone is still supported by Xiaomi whether in official Android updates or even monthly or quarterly security patches? In the next list you will find what you need!

In the event that you are thinking of buying a new or “used” phone and find it in the following list, then I highly advise you to rethink! And if you happen to find your current phone on this list and you care about privacy and security, then it’s time to buy a new phone that still has it’s manufacturer support.
